Indian badminton icons Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu have stormed into the second round of India open Super Series in New Delhi. The two of the most highly rated player faced no problem in getting past each of their opponents. The former world number one, Saina Nehwal will face Thailand’s Chochuwong while Indian badminton star PV Sindhu will meet Saena Kawakami in the second round.
Saina Nehwal defeated Lee Chia-Hsin by 21-10,21-17 whereas Sindhu beat Arundhati Pantawane 21-17,21-6 at the Siri Fort Sports Complex in New Delhi. These two players did look little crazy in the beginning of the game but as they got settled in the game they gave no chance to their opponents to make a comeback in the match.
Saina Nehwal was up against Chia-Hsin in the first round. Chia gave a good fight to sixth seed Saina in the first set of the match but Saina holds her ground and managed to win the set by 21-10. Saina used her experience and strong play on the nets to get past her opponent in the first set.
The second set was more competitive as Chia tried to bounce back in the match and played some good shots that stunned the Indian badminton star. But Saina was too good to get pressurized by the opponents as she kept winning the decisive points in the match which saw her take the set by 21-17. She will now face Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand in the second round of the competition.
On the other hand, India Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu also performed brilliantly to enter in the second round of the tournament. It was an easy match for her compared to Saina as she was facing another India. She was the clear favourite going into the match and she did not disappoint her fans.
She took the first game by 21-17 as she looked little unsettled in the match in the initial phase. But she continues the match and won the decisive points that saw her taking the set by 21-17. In the second set of the match, it looked like Sindhu wanted to give the strong message to all her opponents as she stormed through her opponent by 21-6.
Sindhu did not give a single chance to her opponent in the game to score any free points. She showed the world why she is one of the top-rated superstars in the badminton arena. She will now take on Japan’s Serena Kawakami on Thursday. Both the player looked fit and determined to go the distance in this tournament.
