The heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko will fight in the rematch on 29th October 2016 at the Manchester Arena, UK. It is one of the most awaited fights of the year but the demand for this rematch is not that high compared to the first fight so there is little decrease in payouts compared to the first bout. Tyson Fury will get $7 million guaranteed and the share from BoxNation’s tv revenue. The former world champion, Wladimir Klitschko will get around $12-$15 million which include sponsorship and PPV share.
The first, rematch was scheduled to take place in July but due to Fury’s ankle running injury in the Lake District, the fight was postponed to October 2016. In November 2015, Tyson Fury surprised everyone when he defeated WBO and WBA heavyweight champion Klitschko at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany. It was Fury best fight and earned around $5.5 million while Klitschko got guaranteed $18 million plus PPV share and sponsorship.
The delay of this big fight dent the popularity, as well as revenue stream and therefore Sky Sports also dropped the tv rights of the fight and it will now take place at the Manchester Arena in the UK which is not much popular.
|Tyson Fury||Between 5m to $6m guaranteed plus BoxNation tv revenue as per contract.|
|Wladimir Klitschko||$15 million which include $12 Million guaranteed plus PPV share & sponsorships.|
Fury vs. Klitschko II is by far the biggest fight in Europe so far this year. The previous broadcaster, SkySports losses the right and now the rematch will be broadcast on BoxNation in the United Kingdom and HBO in the United States.
