World Boxing Super Series Dates, Prize Money & Boxers List

The longtime boxing promoters Richard Schaefer and Kalle Sauerland have joined the hands and formed a boxing event promotion company titled “Comosa AG”. The company has announced their initial plans in New York for the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS). They did not disclose the many details including the weight classes, Boxers names and levels of boxers will participate but the prize money announced for the tournament could attract big names. World Boxing Super Series dates, prize money, divisions, boxers and other details are mentions below.

It will be two eight-man single-elimination tournaments where 16 boxers will fight across two different weight categories to win the “Muhammad Ali Trophy” and $50 million in prize money. The World Boxing Super Series tournament is scheduled to start in September 2017 and finals is set to take place in May 2018.

World Boxing Super Series

The tournament will offer a total of $50 million in combined prizes and the winner of each single-elimination in the tournament could earn around $10 million. The Muhammad Ali Trophy is created with the cooperation of Ali’s family and designed by the FIFA World Cup trophy designer Silvio Gazzaniga.

The weight classes for the tournament are not announced yet but it will run two weight classes simultaneously. Eight 8 boxers from each category will start the tournament. Total 14 matches across both weight divisions including 4 quarterfinals, 2 semifinals and final will take place in World Boxing Super Series. The quarterfinals would take place in September or October and the semifinals in January or February

A half of the total 14 matches of World Boxing Super Series will take place in the United States while rest seven will take place across the world mainly Europe. Each fight would take place in a major arena including New York’s Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles’ Barclays Center, Staples Center and T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and other major arenas in the United Kingdom and Germany.
