Barcelona’s star forward player Neymar will miss El Classico with Real Madrid on April 23. He has been banned for three matches because of his action in the last la Liga match against Malaga. He received a red card in the match and Barcellona lost that match.
Real Madrid played the draw with their local rival Atletico Madrid which gave the opening to Barcelona who was on the second place. They had the opportunity to win the match against Malaga and take three crucial points from the game which would have given them a great opportunity to remain in the title race.
But, things did not shape out according to Barcelona’s wish as they were beaten comfortably in the match against Malaga. Barcelona was trailing 1-0 in their meeting with Malaga when Neymar was shown a second yellow card for a poor challenge on Diego Llorente.
In the normal case he would have given only one match suspension due to the red card but because of his actions after receiving the red card he was handed extra two-match ban. He sarcastically applauded for the fourth official when he left the pitch. This action led him to face two more match suspension. However, there was clear indication that Neymar was indicating toward the fourth official.
Barcelona also gave the same reason in the defence of the player but the Royal Spanish Football Federation was not willing to listen. According to them, Barcelona was not able to produce enough evidence to convince them to change their decision.
Now, after this decision, Neymar will have to sit out for three games against Real Sociedad, Madrid, and Osasuna. This will be a huge blow for Barcelona who already lost the match against Low ranked Malaga. They were also beaten comfortably in the first leg of the champions league match.
At this time, suspension to their key forward players means that they will not be able to play with their full strength against Real Madrid. This could end the Barcelona’s hope for La Liga title this year. This blow will also be huge considering the fact that Barca will already be without long-term absentees Alex Vidal and Rafinha. This means that need to perform really well if they want to get past Real Madrid.
