England Cricket board has announced the team for upcoming ICC champions trophy, South Africa and Ireland series. The champions trophy 2017 is scheduled to kick off on 1st July in England itself. The champions trophy is one of the most prestigious tournament as top 8 teams take part in this tournament. This edition of champions trophy will have India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zeland, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh.
England would look toke the full advantage of playing in home condition and would love to win the trophy this time. In the last edition of the champions trophy, they played well throughout the competition but lost to India in the finals. But, this time they would go one step further ad lift the trophy for the first time.
ECB has named 15 man squad for this tournament. The other teams like Australia, South Africa, New Zeland have already announced their squad for this tournament. England is placed in the Group-A of the competition. The other teams in the group are world champions Australia, Bangladesh, New Zeland. The top two teams from this group will move to the semifinals.
The side will be led by Eion Morgan. He will have the responsibility of taking the side to the glory this time. There are some major changes made by the ECB for the champions trophy. The return of Mark Wood is one of such change which surprised the fans. He had not played for England since September. He will have the support of David Willey who also makes a return to the side.
Both the bowlers are known for bowling good swinging deliveries which could prove to be vital in swinging conditions. Tymal Mills who was the second most expensive player in the IPL auction earlier this month has failed to draw the attention of selectors toward himself.
England will start their campaign in the champions trophy on the very first day of the tournament. They will take on Bangladesh. Then they will face New Zeland on 6th June and finally, they will face the world champions Australia on 10th June.
