ECB recently announced the England squad for next month’s one-day and Twenty20 series against host India. England captains Eoin Morgan and opening batsman Alex Hales have returned to the squad. Both players intentionally miss the tour of Bangladesh in October due to security concerns. Ben Duckett, Steven Finn and James Vince are excluded from the squad. England has to play three ODIs and three T20s in India from 15 January to 1 February 2017.
Morgan is important player of the team and 7th highest England ODI run-scorer in history. The team has won seven of their eight ODIs this year under his captaincy. Hales is one of the most dangerous batsmen and has averages of 37 in 38 games. He recently made 171 runs against Pakistan which is the highest one-day score by an England batsman.
Batsman Joe Root is also included in the both ODI and T20 squad after being rested for the 2-1 victory in the ODI series against Bangladesh. Ben Duckett who is not included in the squad would be wondering how it all went wrong. Duckett had failed to score runs in two Test matches against India and was struggling against R Ashwin.
