Cheteshwar Pujara who was playing in his 50th Test match has completed 4000 Test runs. The right-hander got out on 133 by Karunaratne. Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin built a decent partnership of 60 runs and after that, Rahane stumped by the Dickwella on 132.
After the lunch, India was in a good position, near the 450-run mark. The small partnership between Ravi Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha then between Hardik Pandya and Saha helped the team to cross the 500 run mark.
After the dismissal of Hardik Pandya, left handed batsman Ravindra Jadeja came to the crease. He and Wriddhiman Saha smashed some good shots and India was at 553 for 7 wickets before the tea. Saha played some of the classic shots but go out on 67. Ravindra Jadeja added some quick runs and scored 70 before India declare their inning on 622/9. Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 70 while Umesh Yadav on 8.
Sri Lanka started their inning very badly as they lose their first wicket too early. Tharanga on short-leg and wicket picked by Ashwin. The host Sri Lanka is on 50-2 after the end of Day 2 game between India vs Sri Lanka.

India won the toss and opted to bat first, India finished day 1 at 344/3 in 90 overs. Both Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahaneplayed outstanding innings against Sri Lanka in the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. India loses their both opening batsmen early but Rahane and Pujara had other plans for the host.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane scored hundreds on Day of the second Test and built a brilliant unbeaten partnership to move the scoreboard after losing the wickets of skipper Virat Kohli. Both batsmen did not lose a wicket in the third session and added 106 runs.
Sri Lankan bowlers found it very difficult to bowl against Indian class batsmen and also failed to put any kind of pressure on them. Bowlers were looking in pressure and mostly bowled short which helped batsmen to set on the Cris. Things went worse when Nuwan Pradeep walked out of the match due to the hamstring.
