India vs West Indies 5th ODI Prediction: The swag and the aura that surrounded the Indian Cricket team in the first three matches here in the Carribean Islands fizzed like an open soda bottle in the 4th ODI match. The capitulation of Indian batting in front of a pedestal Windies bowling attack was scene more disturbing to see than Tubelight. Especially the sight of Dhoni struggling to finish the innings the way he used to in his hey days was saddening. It is really an inconsolable sight to see a stalwart of Indian Cricket struggle hard to take his team through but could not.
The first three matches was a perfect example of the prowess of Indian batting. Top order fired and and rarely there was need of middle order to showcase their batting skills. But when the time called for, they collapsed. The middle order looked lack-lustre and especially Dhoni looked rusty.
Dhoni looked to push the match to the final over, a thing that made him the greatest finisher, but this time no miracle happened. Dhoni failed and he failed miserably. Dhoni’s strike rate was well below 50 and when your chasing a modest target of 190 you don’t need to bat that long. Yes, the pitch was slow and low but that is no excuse for that loss.
So going into the 5th and final match in Kingston, India has to put their best foot forward and win it. A loss would be devastating and unacceptable both for Kohli and Indian public. A loss against this Windies side could well mean that Kohli’s captaincy can come under the scanner. Also, the Indian public can’t withstand another devastating loss.
Looking into the match, Kingston will play slow and so the Indians should gear up their spin wizards Ashwin and Jadeja. The slow low cutters of Bumrah might slow come in handy in the match. And with the good work that they have been doing recently, Indian team should expect the same effort from their bowlers.
It is the batsmen that should get ready to set the stage on fire and as far as Windies is concerned it looks more like a Tamilnadu state team than an international Cricket team. They would have considered themselves lucky after eking out a win. But don’t expect them to ruffle any more feathers.
