Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner praised debutant Rashid Khan Arman and Yuvraj Singh after the match for their brilliant performance in the opening match. Warner feels if Yuvraj Singh remain consistent throughout the IPL then Sunrisers Hyderabad have a good chance of defending their Indian Premier League title.
Warner said, “That’s the Yuvi that I am used to watching on TV. It was superb stroke and clean hitting play from him, he backed himself. That’s the way that we know he can play and that’s the way that we want him to keep playing.”
Man of the match, Yuvraj Singh scored 62 off just 27 balls as Sunrisers Hyderabad Hyderabad defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 35 runs in the first match of IPL 2017.
Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper also hailed the performance of Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan for his impressive IPL debut terming him a “fantastic prospect”.
Yuvraj Singh said, “When you make a comeback and play well, you gain confidence. You don’t have to worry that you have to make a comeback (to Indian team). I’m batting more hours, working on the short ball, the slower ball, hitting in the V. I was a bit lucky today but I have been playing the short ball really well.”
SRH skipper said, “A great start. We take a lot of confidence from the win. Before the game, we had some pressure because we are defending champions. But the way we came out and played it was fantastic. Our middle-order and top-order were fantastic. 200 on this wicket was a good score.
“While defending there were a few nerves in the middle but we needed just one wicket. It was a fantastic all-round effort,” Warner added.
