Delhi Daredevils’ injury list seems to be increasing in the 2017 Indian Premier League as opener Shreyas Iyer has now been ruled out of the first few matches due to chicken pox. Before Delhi could start their journey they have already received many huge setbacks and Iyer joins the likes of Quinton de Kock and Angelo Mathews.
The first blow came in the form of JP Duminy. He was ruled out of the tournament due to personal reasons. Then came the number of their star opener Quinton de Kock. He was also sidelined due to injury and just when the thing was looking norman for the Delhi team they again received the setback but this time in the form of Indian player.
Delhi star batsman and one of the most consistent performer in the domestic circuit, Shreyas Iyer has also been sidelined for the initial phase of the IPL due to Chicken pox. This is a massive blow for the Delhi side who were already suffering from the lack of quality batsman. Shreyas Iyer recently played a brilliant knock against the Australian side in the practice game. He was also included in the Indian side for the final test match but did not get the chance to play.
Shreyas has been one of the most consistent performers in the domestic circuit. He has played many brilliant innings for his side. The most important thing is that he can play the game according to the demand of the situation. He can play the big shots when required and could also play the anchor role if the teams need him to do so.
Recently, Iyer was called up to the Indian Test team for the Dharamsala Test between India and Australia as a backup for injured skipper Virat Kohli.
Delhi will miss him a lot as they have already lost two of their regular batsman in the form of JP Duminy and Quinton de Kock. Delhi side will have to soon find his replacement as the absence of three of the most consistent player will dent their chances of winning the IPL.
