IPL 2017 Highlights, RPS Vs MI: Rising Pune Supergiant Beat Mumbai Indians

There was lots of drama about the captaincy in the Rising Pune Supergiant team. There were many people who were shocked when Dhoni was removed as the captain of the team. When RPS management replaced Dhoni would with the Aussies captain Steven smith, there were many fans that criticised that decision. But Smith gave a wonderful answer to all the critics with a wonderful knock in the first game of the RPS to led his side to a comfortable 7 wicket victory over Mumbai Indians.

RPS skipper won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat first. Mumbai started the match brilliant in the first few overs but soon they lost the track when Imran Tahir came into the attack. Imran Tahir went unsold in the IPL auction this year and everybody was surprised by this decision as he is the no1 bowler in the shortest format of the game.

In this match, he proved why he is the best bowler in the world by picking three wickets in just the span of two overs. This put a lot of pressure on Mumbai Indian and they were cruising slowly. But in the last few overs, Pollard and Pandya took the control and tore the Pune bowling lineup apart. Hardik Pandya scored 35 runs off 15 balls to help Mumbai to reach 184/8.

Imran Tahir took three wickets including MI openers, Jos Buttler and Parthiv Patel. Rajat Bhatia picked two important wickets while Adam Zampa and Ben Stokes took one each.

Chasing a target of 185 to win, Rising Pune Supergiant got off to a great start, thanks to Ajinkya Rahane who was looking in superb form. It looked like Rahane was well set before starting his inning. He scored a brilliant 60 of just 34 balls which gave Pune the start that they were looking for.

When a team is chasing a big total then you need someone to give you the brilliant start and Rahane did the same. When Smith arrived on the pitch he took the control. He scored a brilliant 84 of just 54 balls. It was his inning that made the difference and stood there till the end. He smoked two big sixes in the last over to seal the deal for his side. Pune won by seven wickets against Mumbai.

This was a great match for the fans as they got to see some great batting display with some big sixes being hit.
