IPL 2017 Highlights, SRH vs RCB

It was the repeat of the last year final at the home ground of Sunrisers in the fist match of the IPL 2017. The match was dominated by the home team in all the department. Sunrisers clearly showed the other teams that why they are the defending champions and a real contender this time also. This win will give a lot of confidence to the men in orange as they have started their campaign at high.

The match started with the RCB interim captain Watson winning the toss and inviting the home team to bat first. The pitch looked perfect for batting and both the captains agreed that high score can be achieved in this match. The same happened in the match.

Sunrisers started the match beautifully as they made a quick start in the first three over. There was a lot of expectation from the Sunrisers captain but he got out cheaply. But the Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan, and Henriques played the brilliant knock to give a goof launching pad for the other batsman in the team.

The Aussies batsman Henriques converted his start into the half-century and played a crucial anchor role when Dhawan was teeing off the bowling attack.

The part began when Yuvraj came on the pitch. He looked well set and in the destructive mood as he was playing his shot from the first ball. He was also dropped by the RCB players in the early phase of his inning.

He converted his brilliant form into the half century in just 24 balls. This was the fastest half-century in the IPL by Yuvraj and he also reached his highest score for Sunrisers. The inning was closed by the last year’s Man of the match in final Ben Cutting. Sunrisers finished the inning at 207.

RCB started their chase brilliantly as they got off to a flier with Gayle and Mandeep teeing off the Sunrisers initial bowling attack. But Sunrisers drew the fist blood with the help of young leg-spinner from Afganistan Rashid Khan as he picked up Mandeep. This was soon followed by the wicket of Gayle. Then there was a short partnership between Jadav and Travis head.

But as soon as Sunrisers got the wicket of Jadav with the brilliant run out by Ben Cutting, the whole teams collapsed. There was no batsman till the end that could help RCB win the match.

Sunrisers bowling was very that which was equally supported by their fielding. They did not allow RCB to play their full 20 over quota.

The match showed that how much RCB were missing the services of their two best players Virat Kohli and AB de Villers. Their batting performance was not good. They need to improve a lot if they are going to win the title.

On the other hand, Sunrisers did everything perfectly and warned the other teams that they mean business in the tournament as are the serious contender for the trophy.
