The match started with Delhi side winning the toss and deciding to bat first. They believe that bowling is their strength and its best for them that they go put the runs on the board and then defend that total. Delhi started the match on a very high note as their both opener Sam Billings and Sanju Samsun made a good start in the match. They hit some lusty blows in the starting overs to give Delhi the start that they were looking for.

But as soon as Samsun got dismissed, Delhi lost its momentum. They lost wickets in quick succession that put them under enormous pressure. At the end period of the inning, Rishav Pant hit some big hits to give a fighting total for Delhi side. Rishav made 38 of just 16 balls with 4 sixes in his innings. Kolkata started the chase on a high note but Indian old veteran Zaheer Khan had some other ideas. He bowled brilliantly in the match. He got rid of both the opening batsman of Kolkata for a very low score. Kolkata lost three quick wickets with the power play that put a lot of pressure on them. But, then came Pathan and Manish Pandey to the rescue. They batted brilliantly together and took the attack to the Delhi bowlers. They batted with the positive mindset and looked to dominate the bowlers.

Manish Pandey made a brilliant 69 runs off just 49 balls. He was right till the end to guide the team to victory. Pathan also played the handy knock of 59 of just 39 balls. It was the partnership between this two batsman that took the game away from Delhi Daredevils.
