Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) have beaten Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a match played in Bangalore by 27 runs to clinch only their second win of IPL 2017. They dominated the game right from the start. They batted first and made a huge total that put a lot of pressure on Bangalore side. RCB batsman never gets going and they threw their wickets away. The credit must go to the bowlers of Pune side that restricted the Bangalore batsman from scoring runs freely. They bowled brilliantly in the match and shown the other team that they could restrict the best batting lineup in the IPL.
RPS need to win more matches as they have already lost three. They would love to continue this momentum that they have got from this match. On the other hand, this was the fourth consecutive loss for the Bangalore side. They have performed horribly in this season and if they soon do not reach the top form they could be out of the tournament by the end of the month. The match started with Virat Kohli winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. RPS started the match with an aggressive approach as they made a quick start. Both of their opening batsman Rahane and Rahul Tripathi hit some lusty blows early in the inning. But, as soon as RPS lost early wickets they lost momentum and lost some quick wickets.
The team was looking in deep trouble but thanks to Dhoni and Smith who played a brilliant knock to bring the team back in the match. But after this two batsman got dismissed, the whole inning fell apart. All the other batsman threw their wickets away and the whole team was restricted at 161. At the half way in the inning, everyone thought that RCB would win this match especially with the batting lineup that they have. But RPS bowlers had some other ideas.
RCB started the chase with a horrible start. They lost Mayan Aggarwal very quickly. Then came Kohli and de Villers. The RCB fans were hoping that this two batsman can turn the things around and lead the side to victory. But as they were dismissed, the whole team fell. There was no batsman that stood on the wicket and tried to play the long inning. The pick of the bowlers for RPS was Shardul Thakur and Ben Stokes as they picked three wickets each. RCB was only able to make 134/9 in their 20 overs.
The man of the match was ben stokes who took three important wickets that restricted RCB from scoring freely. This win will give a lot of confidence to Pune side as they would to build on this win and carry this momentum forward into the tournament.
