The most watched cricket league in the world, IPL or Indian  Premier League’s popularity has increased immensely after its introduction in 2007 by the former BCCI chairman Lalit Modi. Moreover, as of now the IPL is the most viewed cricket league in the world and ranks sixth among all sports leagues. Although IPL is not just a Sports League in India its a lot more than that. There are total 10 Indian players and 10 foreign players include in the list of top 20 highest paid IPL players. The new addition to the list is English all-rounder Ben Stokes who bought by Pune for whopping $2.16 million is the top earner among all international players. Keiron Pollard get an annual salary of INR 9.7 crore followed by RCB’s AB de Villiers who got the annual salary of INR 9.5 crore.

There are many cricketers who get lesser salary than the actual auction amount which includes players like Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir, David Miller, Ravindra Jadeja and Brendon McCullum. While there are many players who get more amount than the actual salary which includes players like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Harbhajan Singh, Lasith Malinga, Faf du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu.

The Indian Test Match skipper, Kohli is is the highest paid IPL player followed by his team-mates Shikhar Dhawan from Sunrisers Hyderabad and MS Dhoni who became the part of the brand new Pune franchise. Both players draw Rs 12.5 crore salary each. While Rohit Sharma from Mumbai Indians and Gautam Gambhir of Kolkata Knight Riders draw Rs 11.5 crore  and Rs 10 in a season respectively.

Virat Kohli Higest Paid IPL Player


The Most Consistent Indian Batsmen and 2016 IPL’s leading run scorer Virat Kohli, but not Mahendra Singh Dhoni, draws the highest salary. The run machine, Kohli is the highest paid and most expensive player in IPL. A humongous amount of Rs. 15 crores in the cash-rich Indian Premier League as it was revealed on Friday, January 1, 2016.The actual salary details of the players retained by the franchises were released, as promised by Rajiv Shukla, the IPL chairman, after the IPL draft held on December 15.

Kohli, who also leads Royal Challengers Bangalore, has a staggering Rs. 15-crore agreement with the franchise. This package makes the 27-year-old the most prized player in the league, ahead of Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan, who draw Rs. 12.5 crore each from their respective franchises.
