India pacer Jhulan Goswami has become the highest wicket taker in women’s ODI cricket. She achieved this feat after she returns with a fantastic 3/20 against South Africa during India’s 2nd ODI of the ongoing quadrangular series in Potchefstroom. Goswami now has 181 wickets from 153 matches. She surpassed Australia’s Cathryn Fitzpatrick who was the previous holder of the record for 180 wickets.
Jhulan Goswami is 34-year-old Indian fast bowler who has been playing the game international for more than 15 years. She started her career against England in 2002. Apart from being the regular member of the Indian women’s ODI team, she has played 10 test matches in which she managed to pick up 40 wickets. She has also been past of 60 T20 games in which she has picked 50 wickets. Her stats speaks for her fantastic performance in all the three formats of the game.
Apart from Jhulan Goswami, Neetu David is the other players who are in the top 5 wicket takers. She has managed to pick 141 wickets. But, she played her last ODI game back in 2008.
This massive achievement by Jhulan Goswami is a clear indication that Indian women team is making progress and now people have become aware of the fact that the women cricket is equally important to the men’s cricket. Jhulan Goswami has been playing cricket for 15 years. This number is way more that Indian captain Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni.
