But the injury to Virat Kohli came as the opening opportunity for him as he was included in the team in place of injured Virat Kohli. was handed his Test cap by former Indian leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.

Kuldeep was handed his Test cap by former Indian leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan. There is no doubt that the wrist spinner from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh is no short of talent. He made the headlines after his heroics in the 2014 ICC under-19 World Cup where he picked up a hat-trick. He became the first chinaman to represent India.

Kuldeep Yadav becomes India's first chinaman

Chinaman is the art in which a left-arm bowler bowls wrist spin. It is an unorthodox bowling style as the spinner uses his wrist to generate the spin rather than his fingers. The direction of the turn is the same as that of a traditional right-handed off spin bowler. These bowlers are hard to handle as the batsman have very less experience of playing chinaman.

There were some great chinaman bowlers that caught the world’s attention. Who could forget the ever energetic Brad Hogg, who played for Australia for more that decade and played an important part in their world cup triumphs.

Kuldeep is one of such bowler. He started as a fast bowler when he first joined a cricket academy in Kanpur but was then asked by his coach to switch to something much rarer – chinaman. Kuldeep had been part of the Mumbai Indians squad in the 2012 season where he bamboozled Sachin Tendulkar once in the nets with his wrong one. He the joined Knight riders where he played alongside Brad Hogg, another chinaman.

Now he gets his much deserve opportunity to represent India in the test. He would have his work cut out as he will be playing alongside the two best spin bowlers in the world Ashwin and Jadeja. This move by India could surprise Aussies as he would be the last person that they would be expecting to play.

We will have to wait until the end of the day to see how he performs in the match and whether he is able to impress the fans or not. This move could very much turn the match toward India who has suffered a massive loss due to injury to Virat Kohli.
