Lowest Total Scored by a Team in IPL

Every team wants to score a maximum number of runs but sometimes they fail miserably to do so that they end up getting a very low score. There could be many reasons for this like the batting unit failed or batsman threw their wicket away. But in most of the cases, this happens because of some extraordinary bowling display the one or two bowlers in the opposition.

The same has been the case in many matches of IPL. There were many matches in which the team’s batting lineup failed miserably. It’s the one record that would not want to have as a team. Here are the top 5 lowest total scored by a team in IPL.

5. Chennai Super Kings (79)

The fifth position goes to the team from Chennai, one of the most consistent teams in the IPL. They only managed to score 79 runs in a match against Mumbai Indians. They were bowled out in just 15.2 overs. This match took place on 5 May 2013 in  Mumbai. The bowlers of MI ran through the batting lineup of the team from Chennai.

4. Kochi Tuskers (74)

At number 4 position is the Kochi Tuskers. They only managed to score 74 runs against the team from Hyderabad, Deccan Chargers. They were bowled out in just 16.3 overs. This match took place on 27 April 2011 in Kochi’s home ground. This was a humiliating performance by the Kochi guys on their home ground.

3. Royal Challengers Bangalore (70)

This is the one record that you would be shocked to know. The team that has probably the most destructive batting line in the IPL is featuring at the no3 position in the lowest scores. But unfortunately, every team has one horrible match. They only managed to score 70 runs in a match against Rajasthan Royals on 26 April 2014 in Abu Dhabi.

2. Kolkata Knight Riders (67)

The guys from Kolkata comes at the second position and they would be certainly not proud of this record. They only managed to score 67 runs in the match against Mumbai Indians. This match took place on 16 May 2008 in Mumbai. You could imagine their condition from the fact that they only managed to survive 15.2 overs.

1. Rajasthan Royal (58)

The number one position goes to Rajasthan Royals. They were bowled out for just 58 runs in a match against RCB. They only managed to play 15.2 overs of their full twenty overs quota. This match took place on 18 April 2009 in Capetown. They only managed to score at the run rate of 3.42 in the match.
