Ranchi: Australian side have suffered a massive blow as left-arm paceman Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the four-Test series after suffering a stress fracture on his right foot.
It is confirmed that Starc has been sent back to Australia due to injury and replacement for him is yet to be named. The 4-match Test series is currently level at 1-1 and the 3rd Test is scheduled to play on March 16 in Ranchi.
Starc plays a pivotal role in Australian side and absence of the left-arm pacer will be sorely missed as the series heats up.

Cricket Australia Physiotherapist David Beakley said, “Mitchell experienced some pain in his right foot during the second Test in Bangalore which unfortunately had not subsided a few days after the Test as we had hoped,” said team physiotherapist David Beakley. “We made the decision to scan his foot in Bangalore this morning and unfortunately it has revealed a stress fracture.
Starc is the second Australian player to be ruled out of the series due to injury as earlier all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was also ruled out due to a shoulder injury.
Starc played an important role in team’s victory in Pune, where he scored crucial 61 runs in the 1st innings and removed Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli in the same over.
