The most important domestic cricket tournament of the season, the Ranji trophy 2017 starts on October 6 and final is scheduled to take place on 2nd January 2017 next year. This is the 84th season of India’s premier domestic tournament and this year many changes were made by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). All team will play a match in a home-away format. The group stages rounds will start on October 6 while the Quarter-final matches will start from December 7. All the teams were divided into four groups, i.e. Group A, B, C and DC. Gujrat is the defending champions of the tournament and will look to retain their title this season. Gujarat is placed in Group B and will start their campaign against Kerala in the second round.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-final of the tournament. The winners of quarter-final matches will advance to semi-finals. The final of Ranji Trophy 207-18 will take place from December 29 onwards and venue for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be announced later by the BCCI.
