The news of Pakistan legendary cricketer Shahid Afridi retirement is in buzz. It is said that Pakistan’s all-rounder will retire after the Pakistan-West Indies T20 series which is scheduled to play in Dubai. Pakistan will play three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against West Indies in last week of the September month.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants Afridi to retire from all formats of cricket but hey want to give a grand reception for the Shahid Afridi and will give a chance to Afridi to play his last cricket series.
In an interview to the Pakistan Daily Jang. PCB said, “Apparently the board and national selectors don’t agree [that Afridi should continue making himself available for national selection] and feel that Afridi should retire gracefully although he can continue to play in foreign leagues and domestic cricket.”
Also added, “The plan is to talk to Afridi and explain to him that since the selectors are now building a new T20 squad for the next World T20 there is no place for him. He will be offered the chance to be included in the Pakistan squad for the T20 series against the West Indies as the 16th player and play in the matches.”
The T20 series against West Indies are scheduled to play on 23, 24 and 27 September 2016 at the Dubai International Stadium and Sheikh Zayed Stadium respectively.
