TNPL 2017 Format

There has been a revamp in the format this time. Following the lines of the IPL, the organisers of TNPL 2017 have decided to do away with the semifinal format and stick to the playoff system. The top 2 teams will get an extra shot at the cherry. The top two teams will first play Qualifier 1 and the team placed 3rd and 4th will play the eliminator. The winner of the eliminator faces the loser of Qualifier 1 to book a place in the final.

Before even the tournament starts, the league got into a bit of trouble when the BCCI refused to give official status to the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Also with Srinivasan on the board, it is going to be tough times for the organisers to make amends with the BCCI. The league, however, will be boosted by the influx of certain top players that includes top name none other than M S Dhoni. Homecoming of Dhoni to Chennai might well mean that he is going to CSK in the upcoming season of IPL.

So, let us hope that the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2017 kicks-off and sets the bar higher and higher. These leagues bring in new players and unearthes new talents, so let us sit back and enjoy the new talent.
