Arsenal has again proven all the critics wrong with their superb win over Manchester City in the FA cup semi-final. They beat Manchester city by 2-1 in the tightly contested match between both the sides. They have again proven that they are one of the top team in the premier league. But, they have the daunting task on their hands as they will face the league leaders Chelsea in the final. The fans could not have asked for a better final that this as both this match will be a London derby and both the sides will have the equal chance of winning it. Arsenal 2-1 Manchester City Highlights
In the semifinal match, everyone expected that Pep’s team Manchester city would prove to be too much for Arsenal side. But this was not the case the match started with both the side trying to analyse their opponents in the initial part. In the first half, both the team looked little hesitant to go for attack and they put more focus on not conceding the goal. The first half ended in 0-0 as both the team were hoping for. Manchester City did create some good moves in the first half but was denied by some brilliant defensive works by Arsenal players.
In the second half, both the team looked to attack and the game opened. The first blood was drawn by Manchester city as their star striker Sergio Aguero scored the opening goal around the half an hour mark. He did not give any chance to the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the net to make the scoreline 1-0 in the favour of Manchester City. But, this lead did not last for long as Arsenal replied back with a brilliant goal.
Nacho Monreal scored a brilliant goal to bring Arsenal back into the match. This goal meant a lot for him as he scored for the first time in two years. Both the team looked for the winner but was denied by goalkeeper or goalpost.
There were many surprise decision in the match. In the first half Arsenal’s penalty, demand was neglected by the referee. In the second half, Manchester City’s demand was also neglected. Sergio Aguero was confident that he was brought down in the box but the referee decided not to award the penalty. The drama grew even more as Manchester city’s goal was disallowed by the referee. The match ended 1-1 in the full time.
In the extra time, it was the magic from Arsenal’s best players Alexis Sanchez. He struck the ball from the six-yard box to make the scoreline 2-1 in the favour of Arsenal. This goal also sealed the match for Arsenal.
There were many speculations made on Arsene Wenger about not helping the team but now he will have the chance to help Arsenal lift their 7th FA cup title.
