The biggest event of sports, FIFA World Cup or Football world cup was started in the year 1930 and was held in Uruguay. The tournament is held every four years since. The last winner of football world cup is Germany, which won its fourth title at the 2014 tournament in Brazil. 1930 World Cup was the only tournament without a qualifying round. The current format of the FIFA World Cup involves a qualification phase, which currently takes place over the preceding three years to determine which teams will play in World Cup Final tournament.

The twenty World Cup tournaments have been won by eight different national teams. Brazil has won maximum cups which is five times and also they are the only team to have played in every tournament.
