Rio Olympics 2016 Rugby Schedule & Teams

Rugby has returned to the Rio 2016 Olympics for the first time since 1924.  Rhe rugby sevens will make its debut at the 2016 Summer Olympics and competition will take two days. The tournament will be played according to rugby sevens rules. 2016 Rio Rugby 7’s is scheduled to take place from 6 to 11 August 2016 and to be held at Deodoro Stadium, Rio de Janeiro. Rio Olympics 2016 Rugby Sevens Schedule

The Rugby sevens will start on the second day of Olympic. The men’s rugby competition start will start on 9th August 2016 and will run for three days wrapping with the medal day on 11th August 2016.

The women’s rugby competition will also run for three days starting on Saturday 6th August and end up with the medal day on Monday, 8th August 2016.

Total 12 teams are competing in this Rugby 7’s at the 2016 Summer Olympics and all the teams are divided into three groups. Each group  will have 4 teams who will play against each other to reach the Quarterfinal.

How to Watch 2016 Rio Olympics Rugby Live

Australian viewers can watch it Seven Network while NBC Universal will broadcast Rio 2016 in the United States.

France Télévisions will have live tv coverage of Rio Olympics 2016 Rugby 7’s in the France while ESPN and Fox sports will telecast Rio 2016 Rugby Sevens live in Brazil, Latin America, and Caribbean Countries.

Japan Consortium will broadcast it in Japan while Kenya rugby fans can watch Rio 2016 on KBC channel.

Rio Olympics 2016 Rugby Sevens Time

Quarter-final matches will be played on the second day and it will start at 4pm local time and will end at the 7pm local time.

The final day draw will start at 12:30pm local time while final match for gold will start at 8pm local time.
