India is hosting the 17th edition of FIFA Under-17 World Cup that starts on 6 October 2017. This will be a great moment for Indian football’s fans as for the first time in history, India is hosting any major Football event. The tournament is featuring some of the most talented youngsters in world football. The competition is playing at six different venues across India. The group stage is finished and here are the complete FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 schedule for the knockout round.

The 2017 Under-17 World Cup gets underway on October 6 and will run over the span of 22 days. The final of the tournament will be played at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata on 28 October 2017. The government of India and the organizing council also are working tirelessly to make this event a huge success.

The draw for the 2017 Under-17 World Cup took place on 7 July 2017 in Mumbai. Here are the results of the draw. 

FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 Draw

  • GROUP A: India (A1), USA (A2), Colombia (A3), Ghana (A4)
  • GROUP B: Mali (B2), New Zealand (B3), Turkey (B4), Paraguay (B1)
  • GROUP C: Germany (C3), Iran (C1), Costa Rica (C4), Guinea (C2)
  • GROUP D: Brazil (D3), Spain (D4), Korea DPR (D1), Niger (D2)
  • GROUP E: France (E4), Japan (E2), Honduras (E1), New Caledonia (E3)
  • GROUP F: Mexico (F2), England (F4), Iraq (F1), Chile (F3)

Top two teams from each group along with the four best third-placed teams in the group phase will move to the round of 16 which is scheduled to be held from October 16. The quarterfinals will take place on October 21 and 22 while the two semi-finals are on October 25.

A total of 24 nations will take part in this biggest footballing event. These 24 teams have been divided into six groups of 4 teams each. The top two teams from each group will move to the next round which is Round of 16. The six groups will play their matches at six different venues and they are:

1.    Group A – Navi Mumbai
2.    Group B – New Delhi
3.    Group C – Goa
4.    Group D – Kochi
5.    Group E – Guwahati
6.    Group F – Kolkata

The quarterfinals will be hosted by Goa, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata while the semi-finals will be hosted by Guwahati and Navi Mumbai.

The tournament ensures that each venue will host at least 8 matches. He also told that the infrastructure and the local support also been kept in mind while deciding the schedule. Salt Lake Stadium will be hosting the most number of matches that is 10 followed by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium (Goa) and Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium (Guwahati) which will be hosting 9 matches each. All the rest venues will be hosting 8 matches.

The All India Football Federation had submitted their bids to host the tournament along with Azerbaijan, Ireland and Uzbekistan but FIFA gave the chance to India to host their first FIFA tournament. The 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup will be broadcasted live in many countries around the globe.
